The project

The project focuses on rehabilitating the rue Richelieu complex, a historical site of the National Library of France (BnF) since the start of the 17th century. This renovation is aimed at:

  • Ensuring building safety, restructuring certain parts and redeploying BnF collections
  • Installing new libraries for Institute National de l’Histoire de l’Art (INHA) and Ecole Nationale des Chartes (ENC)

The work is being carried out in two phases to enable the site to remain open.

The first phase was delivered in May 2016.

The second phase started in early 2017.
